This is a charming love story. I enjoyed it for what it was, and I got it free on amazon for kindle. There was no true character or storyline development, so I see this series being just short romances. Not to say that's a bad thing, I really did enjoy this story. I just don't see this as much more than a rainy afternoon delight......

Nalini Singh--Archangel's Storm (Guild Hunter Series #5)

Genre: Paranormal Romance

With wings of midnight and an affinity for shadows, Jason courts darkness. But now, with the Archangel Neha’s consort lying murdered in the jewel-studded palace that was his prison and her rage threatening cataclysmic devastation, Jason steps into the light, knowing he must unearth the murderer before it is too late.

Earning Neha’s trust comes at a price—Jason must tie himself to her bloodline through the Princess Mahiya, a woman with secrets so dangerous, she trusts no one. Least of all an enemy spymaster.

With only their relentless hunt for a violent, intelligent killer to unite them, Jason and Mahiya embark on a quest that leads to a centuries-old nightmare… and to the dark storm of an unexpected passion that threatens to drench them both in blood.

I love this series, it has a very original and ever changing storyline on angels and vampires. It took me a couple of tries to get hooked into this particular one. But once it got going, the story just flowed. You can't help but be attracted to the quiet, damaged Jason. And Mahiya has had just as damaged a past as Jason, but somehow still manages to smile and brighten his world. I think that's what draws Jason to her, she can still find some small hope of happiness in her world. She is not a weak or clingy character, and makes Jason smile despite his brooding nature. He doesn't know how to love, but yet, he finds himself needing her, missing her. She knows she can not truly tame this wild creature, but somehow manages to find a crack in his stone facade and charm him. All of this is happening while Jason is trying to find the murdered of Eris, Neha's consort. The true murderer, for me, was easy to guess. But that part of the story was a secondary aspect,  just the stage that brought Mahiya and Jason together. I look forward to reading more about them.

Tracy Cooper-Posey--Blood Knot

Genre: Erotic suspense-vampires

Winter, a professional thief who can manipulate others' biologies by touch, accidentally "healed" her former partner--and former vampire--Sebastian, whom she secretly loves. Her healing created a symbiot pairing between them that neither of them wants.

Nathanial, a sexy thousand-year-old vampire and Sebastian's ex-lover, talks Sebastian and Winter into stealing evidence that will expose all vampires to the world. But Nathanial is a puppet-master who doesn't believe in falling in love with humans, leaving Winter unsure of his real feelings for her once he seduces her, or how he feels about Sebastian, the former vampire-now-human whose life he has turned upside down once more.

But the evidence they steal is hot property. The future of all vampires is on the line and others will stop at nothing to get it, leaving Sebastian, Winter and Nathanial with no allies but each other. They must trust each other to survive. Only...can they?

{5 stars}
What a surprise! It is a really well layered suspense with erotic romance woven into the storyline and the 3 main characters. It's a little confusing at first, but it answers all your questions, blends the story together, and gives us a lot of surprises and action. It is not your standard "rehashed" vampire story. Nathanial (Nial) is a powerful vampire, Sebastian his former lover, and now new partner to Winter. Sebastian and Winter are a highly sought after pair of thieves. They have a skill set that no other has, because Winter has a secret. She can control someones biology and them for a short time, kind of like hypnosis. Something goes wrong on a job, and Winter and Sebastian are torn apart by their own secrets. In walks Nial looking for Sebastian, and he needs Winter's help to find him. But Nial is hiding the real reason he needs them both. Woven into this suspense is the love affair the 3 have. The eroticism is written beautifully to fit the dynamic of the 3 characters, and it was a lot of fun watching them all fall in love with each other.

I picked this up from the free kindle romance list. And thought, why not, sounds interesting. And its, free so no loss if it was bad and wanted something to pass the time. But I found myself really enjoying the story. It was new and interesting and I'm looking forward to reading the next one.

Ah....Bliss. I really wish this was a real town, I'd move there in a minute. Another trio is trying to find their "bliss" in life and when Gemma walks in to the garage Jess and Cade work at, they think they have found it. Jess just has to convince her, and Cade, that they are all meant to be together. Throw in the life or death drama that unfortunately happens all to regularly in Bliss and you have another wonderful story that makes me want to move to a town that only exists in our fantasies....but what a fantasy it is!!

Jacquelyn Frank--Forbidden (World of Nightwalkers #1)

Genre: Paranormal Romance

From New York Times bestselling author Jacquelyn Frank comes this first book in The World of the Nightwalkers—an exciting and sensual new spin-off series in which the Bodywalkers, an ancient race of the night, battles the evil forces who prey on them.

The unexpected happens in an instant. On her way to work, secretary Docia Waverley hurtles into a crashing crossroads, and she quickly begins to suspect that things will never be the same. Then, when a tall, blond, muscular stranger intervenes on her behalf, telling her it is his duty to protect her at all cost, what is just a feeling turns to proof positive. That is, as long as Docia’s savior doesn’t turn out to be a crazed kidnapper.

When Ram finds Docia, he has no doubt that she is his queen. But as this golden warrior sweeps in to protect her, he feels something more than body heat every time they touch. He is overwhelmed by a searing connection that goes deep into the twin souls inside him. A desire rises in him that is forbidden—this woman is his queen, the mate of his king, his leader, his best friend. And yet Docia is so vulnerable and attractive that she awakens a hunger in Ram that is undeniable, a carnal craving he cannot yield to . . . not without risking the very survival of the Bodywalkers.

This book felt like one big prologue. Now, I realize there has to be a lot of world building in a new series, but the storyline never did "click" for me. I kept waiting for the story to start, and then it was over. What I love about Frank's series, is that they take place in other worlds, and other dimensions. But this one took place in present day earth....boring. The Egyptian history woven into the characters adds a new aspect I haven't seen any other authors do, and I really enjoyed that part (even though I still can't pronounce their names) Docia is adorable, Ram is a stoic, gorgeous god. And their compability is amazing. All in all the result just felt "unfinished" to me. BUT, I am looking forward to the second one to see how this all plays out.

This story deserves 4 stars for the fast paced, action packed storyline alone. It moves quickly with a pace that keeps your attention. The plot is well written, and keeps you on your toes. I kept thinking, where do they get all this energy to keep running back and forth across the globe? They are teenagers, duh?!? Gen's band of warriors fill in the banter with humor, tears, and equal amounts of teen drama. They jump first, then think afterward, much like real teenagers. Gen, unfortunately, has become the annoying teenager in this one, waffling with her teen angst over William and Joseph. But William and Joseph are not innocent in this trio, both are trying to win the heart of Gen. Saving Gen's mom, trying to kill Zane, so many things on the to-do list. Where to start? Many battles, and tears, later we come to another cliff hanger ending. What will happen to Gen now?

Tess Gerritsen--Last to Die (Rizzoli & Isles series)

Genre: Murder, Mystery, Suspense

For the second time in his short life, Teddy Clock has survived a massacre. Two years ago, he barely escaped when his entire family was slaughtered. Now, at fourteen, in a hideous echo of the past, Teddy is the lone survivor of his foster family’s mass murder. Orphaned once more, the traumatized teenager has nowhere to turn—until the Boston PD puts detective Jane Rizzoli on the case. Determined to protect this young man, Jane discovers that what seemed like a coincidence is instead just one horrifying part of a relentless killer’s merciless mission.

Jane spirits Teddy to the exclusive Evensong boarding school, a sanctuary where young victims of violent crime learn the secrets and skills of survival in a dangerous world. But even behind locked gates, and surrounded by acres of sheltering Maine wilderness, Jane fears that Evensong’s mysterious benefactors aren’t the only ones watching. When strange blood-splattered dolls are found dangling from a tree, Jane knows that her instincts are dead on. And when she meets Will Yablonski and Claire Ward, students whose tragic pasts bear a shocking resemblance to Teddy’s, it becomes chillingly clear that a circling predator has more than one victim in mind.

Joining forces with her trusted partner, medical examiner Maura Isles, Jane is determined to keep these orphans safe from harm. But an unspeakable secret dooms the children’s fate—unless Jane and Maura can finally put an end to an obsessed killer’s twisted quest.

{3.5 stars}
Not quite the page turner I was hoping for, but still a classic Gerritsen mystery. The plot line seemed a little predictable to me and I could really do without Rizzoli's parent drama, (it didn't seem pertinent to the storyline). The Evensong school is as unusual as it is special as Maura discovers when she comes to Evensong to spend some time with Julian. Maura and Julian play a much more active role in solving this mystery this time around. And Julian has blossomed at this school. (Julian has really become a character to watch), I look forward to more mysteries with him. But all in all, the plot was intriguing and just when you think you know all the answers, Gerritsen flips it upside down. In this one, nothing is at is appears, and as predictable as you think the ending will be......it's not.
