Penelope Douglas - Rival (Fall Away #2)

From the New Adult sensation and New York Times bestselling author of Until You

Madoc and Fallon. Two estranged teenagers playing games that push the boundaries between love and war…

She’s back.

For the two years she’s been away at boarding school, there was no word from her. Back when we lived in the same house, she used to cut me down during the day and then leave her door open for me at night.

I was stupid then, but now I’m ready to beat her at her own game…

I’m back.

Two years and I can tell he still wants me, even if he acts like he’s better than me.

But I won’t be scared away. Or pushed down. I’ll call his bluff and fight back. That’s what he wants, right? As long as I keep my guard up, he’ll never know how much he affects me….

{4 stars}

This story was on my highly anticipated list, because I love Penelope Douglas, and Bully is one of my all time favorite reads. It still stays in the back of my mind all these months later. But this was not as emotionally impactful as the first book. Where Jared and Tate were an emotional battle, Madoc and Fallon are physical. Maybe because they were privileged, and never really "wanted" for anything (but each other). I just didn't "feel" anything for them as a couple, Madoc has always been the funny sidekick that you never took seriously. I just didn't feel the impact with this one. Liked it, didn't love it, looking forward to Jax's story.

Chloe Neill - Blood Games (Chicagoland Vampires #10)

While Merit didn’t choose to become a vampire or Sentinel of Cadogan House, she vowed to fight for her House and its Master, and she’s managed to forge strong alliances with powerful supernaturals across Chicago. But even though Merit has had wild adventures, this may be her deadliest yet...

A killer is stalking Chicago, preying on humans and leaving his victims with magical souvenirs. The CPD hasn’t been able to track the assailant, and as the body count rises, the city is running out of options. Vampires and humans aren’t on great terms, but murder makes for strange bedfellows. Can Merit find the killer before she becomes a target?

{4 stars}

The synopsis does nothing for this book. The story isn't really even about the new killer stalking Chicago. It's about the end game for Ethan and the GP. It's all been coming down to this final event to see how the GP will respond. How will all of this play out? Ethan issued his challenge in the last book, and now we wait for Darius to respond. But there are a few GP surprises that get in the way. Another GP mystery is on the fringes getting in the way before we can proceed with Ethan's challenge, and as if Merit and the gang didn't have enough to do, they have to deal with a killer on the loose. Honestly, this is a "bridge" story, it gets us from the status quo of GP life to a whole new era in vampire politics. Not my favorite of this series, but definitely a stepping stone to get us to what I think will be the most exciting era yet.

Crystal Spears - Resenting Me (Breakneck #1.5)

One look at the beautiful Hawaiian flower dancing on stage at his buddy’s strip club and Pyro’s world changes. He’s lost, captivated, head over heels. He tries to stay away, resist her charms, but he just can’t find the strength to do it. Instead, he hires Hazel and Winter as entertainment for the Breakneck President’s thirtieth birthday party, unknowingly putting the girls’ lives in danger.

Hazel convinces Winter to take the Breakneck gig so that she can get closer to Pyro. Playing the temptress to the max, Hazel appears on stage wearing white angel wings, and little else, drawing Pyro in to where she wants him. Needless to say, they both get very little sleep that night.

One night together making love until the sun comes up and these two are in too deep. But this is the Breakneck world, and sunrise brings gunfire and bloodshed. Time brings Winter’s abduction and brutal rape. Hazel’s guilt burrows deep, and she pushes everyone away. She is resenting herself for convincing Winter to enter this Breakneck world. She is resenting Pyro for ensnaring her heart.

This is the story of Pyro and Lana. It is simply the story of how, sometimes, love just isn't enough.

***Spoiler Alert: It is recommended that you read Seize Me before you read Resenting Me. Resenting Me is entwined with Seize Me and contains many, many spoilers.

{5 stars}
Head the warning, if you haven't read Seize Me first, don't read this yet. For those of us that have already read book 1 & 2, we already know how this all plays out. So what we get in this novella, is Pyro and Lana's POV. And it was great, even knowing how it all ends I'm glad I read it (and I still cried).

Callie Hart-Twisted (Blood and Roses #5)

Sloane

How many times can a person fall down and still get back up? How many times can things go wrong before you just give up?

I’ve lost everything. My home, my job, my purpose in life—everything has been turned upside down. But while life hasn’t exactly turned out the way I would have liked it to, I wouldn’t change a thing. If things were different, I wouldn’t have Lacey. I wouldn’t have Michael.

But most importantly, I wouldn’t have him.

I’ve realized what I feel. He knew it before I did. Only one question remains:

Is he capable of feeling the same way?

Zeth

Secrets are a prison, and I have been behind bars for years. Sloane Romera has been turning keys in all of my locks, throwing light on corners of my mind that I thought would forever be shrouded in darkness. Or at least I had hoped would be.

I have done so many wrongs in this life, and yet this woman has forgiven me. She’s done something I never thought possible—she has learned to understand me, and she hasn’t run. She’s amazed me. She’s saved me. She’s fallen in love with me.

If it’s within my power, I’m about to do the same for her.

{5 stars}
Oh Zeth....

This series just keeps getting better and better. It is definitely not a hearts and flowers kind of story. Zeth has lots of baggage, drama, life-and-death situations, some OCD qualities, and a few "friends" that are just a little scary at times. But some of his friends are so loyal they would take a bullet for him, so that says alot about the kind of man he really is. He didn't grow up in any normal kind of way, so his way is all he knows. And Sloane just might topple the carefully constructed life he has going. Book by book the walls he has built around himself start crumbling. Sloane is taking a hammer to it all, and she isn't going to give up until she gets what she wants.....HIM. She has literally given up her whole life at this point to be with him, to be "in love" with him. So here we are, on pins and needles waiting to see how Zeth will react. What will he do when he realizes she is in love with him? Does he love her? Those are just a few questions we have been waiting for answers to. Add into that Lacey, does he know she is his sister? Everything seems to be on some kind of collision course, and I'm anxious and in a hurry to find out how their ending will play out. A lot of questions get answered in this one, but in true Callie Hart fashion, she has left us on the edge waiting for what happens next. And if you are already a fanatic of this series, like me, I don't have to update you on all the ongoing Charlie drama. He is still trying to get to Zeth, and the backlash from the compound is coming back around to cause more complications. But that is just what makes it all thrilling, it's not why we read this series. We read it for Zeth and Sloane. And let's face it, Zeth is one HOT character that we all spend time drooling over. Callie Hart writes the most amazing scenes between Sloan and Zeth, which keeps us coming back book after book. Can't wait to see how she is going to wrap this all up!!

Bella Jewel - Precarious (Jokers Wrath MC #1)

In darkness, we find danger. In danger, I find Beau.

Ash is a prison guard, she's tough, she's strong and she never backs away from a fight. She takes her job seriously, she takes her training seriously, and everything in her life goes as planned.

Until the day he is brought into the prison.

She'll never forget meeting Beau 'Krypt' Dawson for the first time. She'll never forget his haunted eyes and his numb expression. He's a member of the Jokers Wrath MC and it is said he killed an innocent family in the middle of a cafe, in cold blood.

Deranged. Crazy. Psychotic.

All those words describe the infamous Krypt, but Ash suspects there's far more to the quiet man than meets the eye. Secrets are being hidden by the club, information is being kept under wraps. Krypt is silent for a reason.

Ash is desperate to know that reason.

Continually fighting, Krypt is transferred to a high security prison. Ash is in charge. She's always prepared, always alert. Not even her skills will stop the club from ambushing them and taking back Krypt. Only Ash ends up right in the middle of it.
They take her, too.

Now she's stuck with a Motorcycle Club who are tougher than any prisoner she's ever laid eyes on. And they won't let her go. She's too much of a risk. Until the situation can be sorted, they send her and Krypt into the mountains together....alone.

An epic, dangerous love will be built on the foundations of darkness.

{5 stars}

I was a little confused at the beginning of this story, I should have read the synopsis. But I will read just about anything Bella Jewel writes, so I was going into it blind. And starting an MC book out in a prison seemed a daring leap to take, but it all worked out. Ash is a contradiction. She is strong and independent, but vulnerable at times too. Krypt is just one HOT alpha biker you want to climb and camp out on. Wow, the sexual tension is explosive between the two. For most of the book I would have given it a strong 4, we spend a lot of time in the bedroom and not building the story. But as time goes, we get into the meat of the war with the other club and all the things Krypt has to do to keep Ash and her friends safe. I don't want to give any spoilers away, so I'm not going to say much more than it is a great start to a new series, can't wait for the next one!

J.M. Stone - Skin to Skin (Skin Deep #3)

“I kissed Brandon.”

Three little words. One drunken night. And everything changed.

Starting over is never easy to do, and Chloe made it that much harder on herself when she lip-locked Brandon. Guilt-ridden, she confesses to Allie about the kiss. Instead of the black eye she figured was coming, she gets way more than she bargained for in the form of an Allie-sized reality check…but she still can’t shake the haunting memory of a certain toe-curling, leave-you-breathless, wet-your-panties kiss.

With Brandon and Chloe walking on egg-shells around each other, fate, this time in the form of two scheming, hormonal, pregnant women and three funny furballs, steps in once more, forcing them to face the fact that things have definitely changed between them…

But is it for better or worse?

*Recommended for readers 18+ due to HOT sexual encounters, adult situations, and language.

**This is book three of the Skin Deep Series; recommended to read after Skin Deep, book one of the series, and Under My Skin, book two of the series.

{4 stars}

This series is just one of those feel good kind of things. Funny, cute, super sexy, with adorable characters (and adorable mischief loving dogs). There is always a little bit of drama that keeps it exciting, and we always get the whole group back together frequently so you don't miss out on anything anyone is doing. Stone does get a little harlequin corny with her sexual terms like loins or torrid. But it just adds to the spirit of the series. You just keep reading it with a smile......Love it and hoping that Leah is the next one up?!?

JC Emery - 2 new Bayonet Scars books coming your way!!

BOTH OF THESE WILL BE RELEASED ON THE SAME DAY FALL 2014

Tragedy cuts deep. Revenge burns deeper.
The blood of enemies coats the leather of their vests and a trail of bodies lie in their wake, but the Forsaken Motorcycle Club isn't done yet. Carlo Mancuso still needs to pay for his sins. Nobody knows that more than Ian Buckley, the Treasurer for Forsaken.
Ian prefers his pleasure mixed with pain and he's only ever at peace when he's doling out justice. Convinced that he's too unstable and sadistic to take an Old Lady, he keeps his trysts, like all of his relationships, brief and anonymous. But with his club at war, and the stakes being so personal, Ian's feeling the events around him more deeply than he expects.
Mindy Mercer is the sweet daughter of Fort Bragg’s most respectable cop. At least that’s how the town sees her. Very few people know the Mindy who hides her tracks and battles her cravings by lying to everyone around her. She thinks she has control of her addiction until she suffers an attack that leaves her searching for a way out of her own personal hell.
Mindy has never been more desperately in need of a savior and Ian has never seen a more beautifully destroyed creature in his life. Their attraction is intense, but their damage is extreme. Some scars never heal, and some people never get better.
Love is never more painful than when it can kill you.

AMAZING NEWS!!!!

She's funny, and kind, and she just wants that deep, earth-shattering love like her dad has with her school secretary, Holly. He wants to be a good man, but temptation is everywhere.

Love is never more powerful than the first time.

CRUSH EXCERPT (unedited)

Prologue (previously unreleased)

"You got any idea how bad you fucked up?" Ryan asks. Judging by the fact that I have four members of Forsaken staring me down like I'm dog shit, I think I have some clue. "Fucking answer me."
I try to respond, but it’s more than a little difficult to get my vocal cords to cooperate. All I can think is about my dad and how he’d flip out when I’d fuck up. He would ask me all these questions that he never intended for me to answer. It’s what you call a rectal question or whatever you call it. Even when he’d demand an answer, he didn’t really want one and never gave me time to give him one. He just likes to yell—something he still does when he manages to stay out of The Hole long enough to get a phone call in; and unfortunately, my sister pretty much always rats me out.
“Yeah, I got it,” I mumble after some serious thought on the subject.
“Don’t think he gets it,” Diesel says. His voice booms in the ever-shrinking room.
“Nah, he don’t get it,” Wyatt grumbles.
“Give the boy a chance to prove it,” Grady says. His attention is still focused on Ryan. I thought these two weren’t getting along, but maybe I was wrong. “He’s been comin’ around for some time now, saying he’s man enough to wear the cut.”
“He’s just a kid,” Wyatt says in a huff.
“You were all just kids once.” The words come from a deep voice that’s familiar, but I don’t quite place until I see Chief’s long black hair and his broad shoulders. He moves into the room and everybody grows silent. Grady, who is one scary motherfucker, seems to take a step back as he acknowledges Chief’s presence. If I didn’t already know Chief’s long-standing history in the club, I would be well aware of it now. Wyatt is Vice President because he wanted the job according to my dad. Chief could have had it, but it wasn’t his end game. Great power, great responsibility and all that shit.
“Fucked up, didn’t you?” he asks. His brow and jaw are relaxed. I remain silent expecting this to be another one of those questions I’m not supposed to answer.
“Answer me,” he barks.
“Yes, Sir.”
“Come on, Chief,” Ryan whines. I’m not talking about a manly whine—if there is such a thing—I’m talking about this full-on, high-pitched fucking whine. His brows furrow and he stomps his foot. Diesel snorts, but Wyatt and Grady both look annoyed at his antics. Only Chief doesn’t react.
“Fine,” he says. A small smirks appears in the corner of his mouth. My attention shifts to Ryan, who is smiling full of teeth that look as though they’re growing sharper by the moment. He lunges forward with his right foot, but stops suddenly. I make the mistake of jumping back quickly. Like a wild animal, the action spurs him on. Before I know it, he’s stepped forward with his left foot. It’s happening so fast that I’m not really thinking—just reacting—and I take several steps back.

“Let’s play a game—I catch you—you get to suck my dick,” Ryan says as he reaches out to grab a hold of me.

Ride

Death comes in Armani. Salvation comes in leather.

Principessa to the Mancuso crime family, Alexandra knows a thing or two about living outside the bounds of the law. Suffocated by the future her father has laid out for her, she makes a choice she can't take back, changing the entire trajectory of her life.

Thrust into the dark and dangerous world of the Forsaken Motorcycle Club for her own protection, Alex finds herself faced with the last thing she needs right now: the man of her dreams. He’s sex in leather, the devil incarnate, and one hell of a kisser. But he’s also off-limits. Ryan Stone can be her friend, but he’s forbidden to be her lover.

Third-generation Forsaken, Ryan knows nothing other than life on two wheels, and he wouldn’t have it any other way. He enjoys the many privileges that come with the patch, and the only laws he recognizes are the ones set-forth by his club. That is, until who he wants more than anything isn’t allowed on the back of his bike —or in his bed. Balancing his desire for her body, and need to keep her safe, Ryan tries to keep Alex at a distance. Finally having made a choice for herself, she’s done hearing the word “no” and will push boundaries even Ryan himself doesn’t dare cross.

Love is never more tempting than when it’s forbidden.

Ride (Bayonet Scars)

THRASH

Loneliness suffocates the heart. Acceptance breaks down walls.

As a Lost Girl to the Forsaken Motorcycle Club, Nicole Whelan knows how to party. She’s not cut-out for relationships and her life is way too complicated for anything more than casual encounters. But one night when she falls into Duke’s bed at the clubhouse, he sees something in her that he can’t let go of—no matter how many times she tries to run.

Having been left to raise her teenage brother, Jeremy, she’s already got her hands full and isn’t looking for anymore complications. But Duke’s just watched his best friend fall for the only girl he couldn’t have, and then almost lose her so shortly after, shaking him to his core. Faced with his own loneliness, he’s more determined than ever to break down Nic’s walls and show her that he can be good for her; but he’s got a bad track record and she’s got a bad temper. Changing his ways isn’t easy when he’s not sure what he’s even changing for.

The violence and turmoil are at an all-time high, and Forsaken is in a vulnerable place when a twist of fate breathes new life into the club. It’s a much-needed beacon of hope for the embattled biker family, even if everyone’s not exactly on board. With Duke and Nic’s relationship already on shaky ground, and something even more important at stake, the Forsaken Motorcycle Club will fight like hell to keep their family together and whole.

Love is never more precious than when it’s new.

[Siren Ménage Everlasting: Erotic Consensual BDSM Ménage a Trois Romance, M/M/F, spanking, cropping, flogging, sex toys, HEA]

{5 stars}

Finally! As fans of Sophie Oak's 2 series, we have waited a long time for Kitten's story. We all know what happened, but how would she ever find happiness after that? I won't give any spoilers away, but I will say that this is a coming home story for more than just Kitten. Cole and Mason have their own issues to overcome, and the three of them together are amazing. And in true Sophie Oak fashion, the residents of Bliss and Texas make much needed appearances. I swear if there really was a Bliss Colorado, I would already have moved there.

Kylie Scott-Lead (Stage Dive #3)

The lead singer of Stage Dive, Jimmy is used to getting whatever he wants, whenever he wants it whether it's booze or women. However, when a PR disaster serves as a wake-up call about his life and lands him in rehab, he finds himself stuck with a new assistant hired by the record company to keep him out of trouble. He doesn't need or want a babysitter. Especially one that looks like Lena.

Lena's not willing to take any shit from the sexy rocker she's been hired to assist and is determined to keep their relationship completely professional, despite the sizzling chemistry that sparks between them every time they're in the same room. But when Jimmy pushes her too far and Lena leaves, he realizes that he may just have lost the best thing to ever happen to him.

Readers won't want to miss the third book in this New Adult series about ordinary young women who fall in love with rock stars.

{5 stars}

Lena doesn't really care that he is a rock star, she just needs a job. And this job seems easy enough, but looks can be deceiving.....in more ways than one.

Jimmy is damaged and hides it in booze and partying. His mother really did a number on him and he doesn't believe anything anyone tells him about his worth. Those closest to him can't seem to get through to him, but maybe Lena can? Lena has her own issues, her sister betrayed her in a way no sister ever should. So they are quite a pair to be helping each other. I wasn't impressed in the beginning, Jimmy is quite an ass. (And Mal is still my favorite). But as you go along you find it is just a defense mechanism he uses to keep people away. He doesn't trust anyone, but Lena starts to see the cracks in his armor when they are alone. He starts to share and open up when it's just the two of them. Back and forth they go, until Lena finally has had enough and he goes to far. Just as looks can be deceiving, you also don't know what you have until its gone.  Loved it!
