Amo Jones - In Peace lies Havoc (Midnight Mayhem #1)

My name is Dove Hendry.

𝘔𝘪𝘯𝘦 𝘪𝘴 𝘒𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘯 𝘈𝘹𝘵𝘰𝘯.

I was captured by darkness.

𝘚𝘩𝘦 𝘩𝘢𝘴 𝘢𝘭𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴 𝘣𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘴…

They groomed me for Midnight Mayhem. Like a trained possession, weak against their control.

𝘚𝘩𝘦 𝘩𝘢𝘴 𝘣𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘦𝘥 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘣𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘥 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘺𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘴. 𝘚𝘩𝘦 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘥𝘰𝘦𝘴𝘯’𝘵 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘪𝘵 𝘺𝘦𝘵...

But Midnight Mayhem was the stained glass that concealed a very dark culture.

𝘈 𝘤𝘶𝘭𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘴𝘩𝘦 𝘪𝘴 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘰𝘧.

The Brothers of Kiznitch come in fours, and they’re not happy about me being hustled into their acts.

𝘖𝘳 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘸𝘦? 𝘊𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘧𝘶𝘭, 𝘓𝘪𝘵𝘵𝘭𝘦 𝘉𝘪𝘳𝘥. 𝘈 𝘸𝘢𝘳𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘴 𝘢 𝘸𝘢𝘳𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘢 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘰𝘯…

Mind-tricks.

Stunts.

Deceit.

𝘗𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳.

But there’s something uglier that has been haunting me for years upon years. So ugly that I have never seen it’s face. I never had to. I’d hear his whispers through my internal screams, feel his shadow brush against my nightmares. He was my the monster that tormented me.

𝘈𝘯𝘥 𝘮𝘢𝘺𝘣𝘦 𝘭𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘥 𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘣𝘦𝘥…

When I started Midnight Mayhem, his presence faded.

His whispers were silenced.

His shadow dissolving without a trace.

I wondered why that was.

𝘚𝘩𝘦 𝘥𝘪𝘥𝘯'𝘵 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘸𝘰𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘨...

When I started this book I was a bit confused. Like walking thru a dream. You see so many things, but the pieces don't quite fit together or make sense.

But you keep going and eventually the dream clears and you see everything for what it is and what it is meant to be. Mind blowing.

I am in love with every single character, and the role they play in the story as a "whole". They each are important in a way that pulls all the small nuances together that make Dove and King's story more than a nightmare. More than a dream. More than anything they could have imagined. The push and pull between the two is tortuous at times, HOT at times, and frustrating at times (more than I care for).

But once all the secrets start spilling out and their story unfolds, WOW, they will capture your attention and you better hold on.

**We also get a few cameos of some of Amo's other characters, which is great (more reading for me because I'm not caught up on her whole library).

And now we wait for the next circuit of Midnight Mayhem to start........

Tiffany Reisz - The Rose (The Red #2)

Author Tiffany Reisz returns to the world of The Red with an imaginative sequel full of lust and magic, and the dangers unleashed when the two are combined…

On the day of Lia’s university graduation party, her parents—wealthy art collectors with friends in high places—gift her a beautiful wine cup, a rare artifact decorated with roses. It’s a stunning gift, and one that August Bowman, a friend of her parents and a guest at Lia’s party, also has his eye on. The cup, August tells her, is known as the Rose kylix, and it’s no ordinary cup. It was used in the temple ceremonies of Eros, Greek god of erotic love, and has the power to bring the most intimate sexual fantasies to life.

But Lia is skeptical of August’s claims of the cup’s mythology and magic—after all, he’s a collector himself, and she suspects he just wants to get his hands on this impressive piece of art. So he dares her to try it for herself, and when Lia drinks from the Rose kylix she is suddenly immersed in an erotic myth so vivid it seems real—as though she’s living out the most sensual fantasy with August by her side…

Realizing the true power of this ancient and dangerous relic, Lia is even more wary of giving it up, though August insists it is only safe with him. He’s willing to pay the full value of the cup, but Lia has another type of trade in mind. One that finds them more tangled up in each other—and in fantasy—than either was prepared for.

Have you ever wanted to hug a book?

A book that made you feel so much that you just wanted to hug it and absorb all the words.

Crazy right? But that is what Tiffany Reisz does to me with her writing. I worship the ground she walks on. Add on to that my love of Greek Mythology, and I was done for.

This is the second book in The Red series. It is about Mona's daughter and a very interesting August Bowman. "wink wink". It is alluring, beautiful, passionate, crazy sexy, with Greek Mythology woven into it. If you thought the first book was hot, wait till you read this one. Truly there are no words to adequately convey how I feel about this book. There is one "story" in it that actually made me tear up it was so sweet. But I'll leave you guessing on that one.

If you are a follower of Tiffany Reisz then you will not only want to read this one, but you will NEED to read this one. As most of you know Tiffany Reisz doesn't write "vanilla". If you can't handle the super heated passion in her books, then this is not for you. But if you can open your mind and find the true love threaded throughout all of her books, you won't regret it.

I just hope this isn't the last we see of Lia and August.

Cat Porter - The Dust and the Roar (Lock & Key prequel)

“The Dust and the Roar” is the origin story of the Lock & Key Series set in the late 1970s through the 1980s before the timeline of the series. This is a literary fiction love story of Isi and original MC member, Wreck, as well as the story of the founding of the club in Meager, South Dakota. It is a full length, complete novel and can be read as a standalone before or after the series.

A forgotten era
A forever love
Their untold story.

Screw the rules.

Army veteran Richie Tallin returns to South Dakota from a disastrous war with nothing to gain and nothing to lose. With no real home, his family in shambles, his dad’s old motorcycle becomes the key to a new life as Wreck, the Road Captain of an outlaw motorcycle club. Now he’s living the life he’s always craved—freedom, good times, loyalty, no regrets, and, hell yes, no rules.

But when he finally gets a chance with Isi, a feisty girl he’s had his eye on for years, everything shifts. As fiercely independent as Wreck, Isi is determined to restart her life and keep her family’s business afloat while she hides a wounded past. She and Wreck light a fire in each other that’s unexpected and wild, and what begins as a casual fling becomes passionate and serious real fast.

Life is good.

But when a war of revenge, payback, and power breaks out, everyone gets caught in the crossfire. Choices are made. Sacrifices that can never be undone. In a crazy 80’s world of drug dealers, rock and rollers, and rival outlaws, Wreck and Isi are determined to hold on come what may.

And come it does.

Few know how the One-Eyed Jacks MC of Meager came to be. And fewer still, how the love of one woman changed the destiny of a small town in the Black Hills of South Dakota forever.

It's hard to say whether I would have loved to have read this before I read the series. It's a back story that was always in the background of the series, like a mystery we couldn't quite reach.

If you have read the Lock & Key series, then you know the outcome. If you have not, it's ok to read this beforehand. This entire series is an amazing work of strength, decisions, loss, and love. I've loved every word.

Wreck was always the stoic strength in the series, and a favorite character. The story of Wreck and Isi is emotional. An ebb and flow of life after tragedies. They both have come away from dark events in their life to find a true love connection that comes once in a lifetime. But neither of them knew how true that statement was going to be.

Are you a reader who gets so deep in a book you live every moment with them. The happy times and the sad? I am one of those readers, I cry with them. And cry I did. Wreck's story is emotional. Isi was his "one", his true love, the once in a lifetime connection that we all dream of having. But life isn't that giving sometimes. The impact of others decisions cause havoc in their lives and the rollercoaster outcome was an emotional ride. But we also find the origin of 2 main characters (no hints here) in the series that were great additions. All in all, if you haven't read the series this will hook you. If you have read the series, this is the perfect addition to the love story of these characters.

Callie Hart - Revenge at Raleigh High (Raleigh Rebels #2)

SILVER

Kiss me.
Hold me.
Claim me.
Love me.

It’s hard to remember what life was like before the dark-haired, dark-eyed devil waltzed into Silver’s life and set fire to her soul.

The town of Raleigh is gradually returning to normal after the painful losses it suffered. Jacob Weaving and his football f#@k boys are nothing but tainted memories in Silver’s rear-view mirror. The halls of Raleigh High don’t even inspire the same terror that they used to…

But…

Falling in love so hard, so fast was always bound to blind a girl. Silver has been too wrapped up in her inked-up hero to notice any of the signs: all is not as it should be at Raleigh High. The Raleigh High elite haven’t forgotten the girl who dared defy them…

And now it’s time to make her pay.

I'm not normally a YA reader, and you can't really consider this a YA book except that they are in high school. Everything that is thrown at them should never be experienced by anyone much less teenagers, no matter how close you are to being an adult.

I love Silver and Alex, they are a powerful couple. And they go thru a tremendous amount of, well, just everything. Honestly, there is just too much to explain, you'll have to read the story. One hint, pay attention to the "easter eggs" Callie has hidden in the story that will reference a certain series we all really love.

The only thing that brought this down from 5 stars is all the teenage sex. I get it, and it was part of the story, but for me personally it's not something I really care to read extensively. Other than that I can't wait to get to the next book!!

Contemporary Romance is not my usual genre, but this was given to me by the author for an honest review. And you can't go wrong with a HOT Tattooed guy, right?

This story is funny, with a great group of characters, and an off the normal track for a storyline. The dating app baseline was genius. It fit into the characters path making it all work wonderfully. I don't want to give out any spoilers but I am really glad I got this book. I power read it in one day.

KC Decker is a new author for me, but if this is any indication of her writing, them I'm in. I'll be picking up more of her books.

Helena Hunting - Making Up

Making Up by Helena Hunting

Synopsis:
A new standalone, laugh-out-loud romantic comedy by New York Times bestselling author Helena Hunting.
Cosy Felton is great at her job—she knows just how to handle the awkwardness that comes with working at an adult toy store. So when the hottest guy she’s ever seen walks into the shop looking completely overwhelmed, she’s more than happy to turn on the charm and help him purchase all of the items on his list.
Griffin Mills is using his business trip in Las Vegas as a chance to escape the broken pieces of his life in New York City. The last thing he wants is to be put in charge of buying gag gifts for his friend’s bachelor party. Despite being totally out of his element, and mortified by the whole experience, Griffin is pleasantly surprised when he finds himself attracted to the sales girl that helped him.
As skeptical as Cosy may be of Griffin’s motivations, there’s something about him that intrigues her. But sometimes what happens in Vegas doesn’t always stay in Vegas and when real life gets in the way, all bets are off. Filled with hilariously awkward situations and enough sexual chemistry to power Sin City, Making Up is the next standalone in the Shacking Up world.

Bio:
New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of PUCKED, Helena Hunting lives on the outskirts of Toronto with her incredibly tolerant family and two moderately intolerant cats. She writes contemporary romance ranging from new adult angst to romantic sports comedy.

If I could give this higher than 5 stars I would. This entire series is one of my most cherished storylines. The characters burrow into your heart and soul. Flynn does that with her writing. You feel everything, you are a part of the story and as much as you want to get to the end and get your answers, you don't want the story to end because you have to let go of the characters.

And even tho Jake and Barbie are not directly part of the Nine Minutes series, they are from the fringes of that series. And their story couldn't exist with out Grizz and Ginny starting the whole thing.

My advice, even tho this can be read as a stand alone, I don't think you will get the full impact of it without reading the NIne Minutes series first. There are little tells woven into this story that only those of us that have read it all will understand.

Stalking is such sweet sorrow...

Nine lives.
Nine inches.

Preppy's brother is about to live up to the family legacy in more ways than one.

This is the story of Nine, The Tale of Kevin Clearwater.

Nine can be read as a complete standalone.

Love Nine and Lenny.

They are a great addition to the King series. I don't want this series to ever end. The characters are funny, loyal, and from T.M. Frazier's descriptive writing, totally HOT. At least they are in my imagination. If you haven't read this series, start at the beginning. You won't be disappointed.

Amo Jones - Malum Pt. 2 (Elite Kings #5)

Some girls don’t like pretty things.
Some girls like things that are destructive, and toxic. Things that fuel our bodies with adrenaline and bring our demons to their knees.
They say magic isn’t real, but it’s it the closest way to describe love? It doesn’t exist physically. It merely exists around us, within us, possessing our souls and making us do stupid shit. Shit like falling in love with a boy who knows how to rip my world apart and raise hell with a simple flick of his wrist. Their secrets are now mine. I’m not just in the middle of this game, I’m helping orchestrate it. Can the cries of my aching soul be enough to drown out the burning embers of my mistakes?
The mind strengthens the heart, roughing the edges to prepare it for war. This is a war I will not win.
This is a war of fate.

Well......... here we are

And I'm speechless. I couldn't explain this series to anyone who hasn't read Amo Jones before. There are too many sub plots, branching characters. Twists, turns, and mind twisting scenarios.

And every step of the way you have, at times, no idea what's happening. You have to keep moving forward to find out what's going to happen with our Elite Kings and the women who own them (well a couple of them anyway). There is no way you can skip ahead in this series, you will be totally lost. You must follow the same path the rest of us have trudged thru.

B.B. Reid - The Moth and The Flame (When Rivals Play #2)

The Moth and the Flame by B.B. Reid
Release Date: May 20, 2019
Blog tour-2.jpg
The Moth and the Flame, the second romantic standalone in the When Rivals Play series by B.B. Reid.
THE FLAME
Here lies Louchana Valentine. She was a homeless, orphaned virgin.
I never cared what my gravestone would say until I landed in deep with a powerful gangster. Lucky for me, my best friend happens to be ruthless too. I should feel guilty that he’s forced to turn on the man who’s been a father to him. Except I’ve always known that Wren’s soul wasn’t as black as he claimed.
He was good.
He was beautiful.
He was mine.
He just didn’t know it yet.
And with Wren keeping me safe, I’ve got time left to rewrite the end of my story. But if he has his way, virgin is already carved in stone.
THE MOTH
I’ve never known anyone as alluring as Lou. Or as frustrating. Since the night she saved my life and stole my wallet for her troubles, I couldn’t stay away.
She became my onus.
My light.
My…anyway.
With nowhere to run, I’m forced to trust someone I never expected. At least with Lou safe in Blackwood Keep—far away from me—I’ll die with my conscience intact. Because she no longer looks at me with friendship in her eyes. Those iridescent blues shine with a different need entirely, and I’ve never been able to deny her.
It is strongly advised that you read The Peer and the Puppet before diving into The Moth and the Flame. Content suitable for ages 18+.

Excerpt:
Lou didn’t awaken when I climbed through her window, weary and angry, late the following night. My prediction had come true. I’d gone back to Blackwood Keep, and against my better judgment, I confronted Danny Boy. Or rather Ever McNamara. Heir to a multibillion-dollar hotel empire. And the only son of Thomas McNamara. Surprisingly, what bothered me most wasn’t Danny Boy or his double life. Something about his father had seemed familiar to me. As if I’d known him in another lifetime. I shook my head as I toed off the black and white striped Adidas Lou had picked out, swearing the sneakers almost made me look normal. I snorted, and with a moan, she shifted in her sleep causing the sheet covering her lower half to slip dangerously low. Before I could rethink it, I ran my fingers over the curve of her naked hip now bare to me. Thoughts of Ever McNamara fled to the recesses of my mind as I marveled at the smoothness of her skin. It was a surprising contrast to her hardened demeanor, but I always knew it was a front. She was a pillar, no doubt standing tall and appearing strong, but one day, her cracked foundation would crumble, and I’d make damn sure I was around to pick up the pieces. Even if she didn’t want me to be. There were times when she didn’t appreciate just how seriously I took my role as her best friend. She claimed I acted like her father rather than her friend. If that was what she called making sure no one ever hurt her again, then sure—I’d daddy the fuck out of her. Another moan slipped from her lips when my fingers reach the edge of her frilly blue panties, but this time, it was the sound of my name on her lips. For a second, I panicked, thinking she’d caught me perving on her, but when her even breaths continued, I realized she was still very much out of it, and a smile slowly formed as my fingers dipped lower. “What are you dreaming right now, Lou?” Her breath seemed to catch as I continued to toy with the seam of her panties. “Are you dreaming of me?” She sighed in response. “You are, aren’t you?” A low whine escaped her. “I know what you’re after, little Valentine. I’ve known all along.” We both seemed to stop breathing when my fingers dipped beneath her panties and I felt her smooth skin. “How can you be sure you can handle me when I haven’t even kissed you yet?” I swallowed, cursing myself but then decided to allow myself honesty. At least this once. She was writhing now, attempting to relieve the ache I knew was building, but we both knew it was useless. Nothing short of getting me inside her would ever do. “You want to come.” It wasn’t a question but a statement of fact. “But you don’t get to come. You’ve been bad, Lou. This is how I’ll punish you.” I freed my fingers from her panties and stepped back. As if I’d snapped my fingers, breaking her from my spell, she jackknifed from the bed, breathing hard and looking around in confusion. When her gaze pierced the dark and found me, I remain perfectly still, my hands already in my pockets, pretending my fingers weren’t burning with the memory of her soft skin. “Wren?” My eyebrow rose. “You expecting someone else?”

B.B. Reid has always been a 1-click author for me. Everything she writes has been captivating. And The Peer and the Puppet was one of my favorites.

As much as I love Lou and Wren, the beginning of their story was a little slow moving for me. Or maybe I was just impatient for them to truly get together, not sure. But as the story moves and the plot reveals itself in how it plays to the larger series, well, it got really good. All my favorite players were in the mix and couldn't wait to see what happens.

You must read The Peer and The Puppet to understand this story completely, but you won't regret it. Four and Ever are a volcanic couple that captures everyone in their lava flow.

Callie Hart - Rebel of Raleigh High (Raleigh Rebels #1)

* The Rebel of Raleigh High is the first book in the Raleigh Rebels Series. Please be advised, this book comes with a trigger warning. Intended for readers 17+ *

Silver

Hit me.
Kick me.
Hurt me.
Hate me.

There’s nothing that the students of Raleigh High can do to Silver Parisi anymore. Over the past year, she’s had to endure more pain and suffering than most people are asked to bear in their lifetimes. She’s a pariah, an outcast, a ghost. She’s also never been one to take shit lying down, though…despite what half the football team might say.

With only one hundred and sixty-eight days left of the school year, it won’t be long until graduation, and Silver’s planning on skipping town and leaving Raleigh firmly in her rearview mirror…

Until he comes along…

Alex

Orphan.
Degenerate.
Reprobate.
Deviant.
Alex Moretti’s earned most of his labels, and he’s not ashamed of a single one of them. He’ll earn far worse before he’s finished with his new found ‘friends’ at Raleigh High. Having spent years being ground down under the boot heel of society, it’s time for a little payback. And if exacting revenge upon the heads of the Raleigh elite means he can also help the beautiful girl who hovers in the shadows, then that’s all for the better.

Oil and water. Fire and ice. The differences between Silver and Alex are broader than any chasm. To reach one another, they must take a leap of faith and fall into the divide.

And falling?

Nothing good ever came from falling.

As much as I liked Silver and Alex, their romance seemed a little too easy and quick. Like love at first sight kind of quick. But I went along for the ride anyway because Alex really made a great Hero. And I felt drawn to find out how this all played out.

There is a moment in the story where I thought I was going to have to "hate" Callie for a moment (no spoilers here) when I turned the page to find only 3 sentences. But she didn't crush my heart with that fake out and now I'm hooked into seeing how this is all going to play out.
