Katy Evans-Remy (Real #3)

Adult Romance 18+

Underground fighter Remington Tate is a mystery, even to himself. His mind is dark and light, complex and enlightening. At times his actions and moods are carefully measured, and at others, they spin out of control.

Through it all, there's been one constant: wanting, needing, loving, and protecting Brooke Dumas. This is his story; from the first moment he laid eyes on her and knew, without a doubt, she would be the realest thing he's ever had to fight for.

{4 stars}
It's always a risk for an author to rewrite a book from another's POV. We all want it, we've all read books where we just know it would be wonderful to read it from the other POV. But pulling that off without making it seem like you just read the same book again without getting bored? Well, I think Katy Evans pulled it off.

Remy was such a silent character in the first 2 books, that having a book told from inside his head was a treat. Even though we all know what happened along the way, to see it through his eyes was a whole new story. We skip along learning what goes through his mind when he is normal (we skip the parts when he goes black and isn't aware of what's happening). And we see him from the inside out. It was great, and as an added bonus we get to read about their wedding. Adding a little bit of "new" mixed in with the past made this book even better.  We don't rehash each an every incident from the first 2 books, just the high (or low) points that are important to his storyline. I really enjoyed Remy, he is such a tormented character, that you just want to wrap him up and protect him. But that's his job, his sole purpose in life now is to protect and treasure Brooke and Racer. Great series, emotional, captivating, endearing. Love it. Great job Miss Evans!

Tessa Bailey-Asking for Trouble (Line of Duty #4)

Adult Romance 18+

Brent Mason and Hayden Winstead can't stand each other. She plans exclusive parties for her rich family's charities. He's a rough and tumble cop who rigs explosives for a living. Could two people be any less suited for conversation? They think not and prefer to keep it that way.

Unfortunately, their two best friends are deeply, disgustingly in love. Forced together, the mutual attraction simmering beneath the surface of Brent and Hayden's non-relationship grows with every argument until it explodes into a scintillating night of mind-blowing sex. And it wont be the last, as far as Brent's concerned.

Hayden has a secret, though. Her father's company is relying on a merger to save them from financial ruin, and only Hayden's marriage to the CEOs wealthy son can secure the deal. If she's to protect her family, she'll have to forget Brent. And he has no intention of being forgotten.

Perfect read for a cold, wet, winter day. Tessa Bailey has managed to turn two of the most unlikable characters into two of my favorites. They are like a "beauty and the beast" love story. Neither one much likes the other until the bedroom sparks fly, then they realize the chemistry and fire that has been missing in their lives. The back and forth dynamic is great, you just can't help falling for both of them. Another hit in this series! Can't wait to see who's up next.

C. M. Stunich--Tough Luck (Hard Rock Roots #3)

Adult Romance 18+

But I wish he wasn't.

I didn't sign up for this destruction, this pain.

In his music, I hear his soul crying out for me.

If I could, I'd run away from here and never look back because to tell you the truth, I'm terrified. There are forces weighing in on me that even I don't understand. I'm scared. Things are dangerous. This could get real ugly, real fast.

*****

Lola Saints is a godsend.

But I wish she wasn't.

I don't know sh*t about her, but already, I'm hooked.

When she plays, I can almost imagine the ghosts of the dead are calling out to me.

If I could, I'd shed my soul and leave the pain of the past behind me. But I can't. I have to figure out if there's a way to fall in love anew and respect the old. But something else is going on, something weird. Something that tells me my tough luck might just run out real fast.

{4 stars}   **spoiler alert**

I have to say that for the first half of the book I really didn't care for Lola. Not just because she was on the wrong side of this completely screwed up situation, but I just didn't get her. I couldn't "click" with her Australian "slang" and her slightly obnoxious behavior. But somewhere in the middle I changed my mind, she became something more integral to the story. Ronnie has been mourning his girlfriend for far to long, so he has done nothing but party and screw his way thru dozens of groupies along the way (he's got 4 kids). That is until he meets Lola, somehow she plugs him back into life. And when all hell starts breaking loose, she is still there by his side.

This is not your typical romance series/story. It is a mind f*ck mystery, with murder and chaos. It's a puzzle that needs to be solved. It just so happens it surrounds a dozen people, two bands, and a rock tour. And Stunich has a spectacular way of leaving us hanging with nail biting cliff hangers! Ugh! But I'm not reading this series looking for the typical HEA. I'm reading it because I am intrigued, hooked like a junkie, and MUST know why this is all happening. Who is Tyler? Why is he doing this? I need to know, and if I get a couple of HEA's from my favorite couples, then even better. This series is harsh, gritty, raw, and magnetic. There are no candle light dinners, no hand holding romance. Just raw passion, sex, drugs, and rock n roll! It's a wild ride, and I am really loving this series.

J. A. Redmerski-The Edge of Always (The Edge of Never #2)

Adult Contemporary Romance

He was taking the long road. She was taking the road to nowhere. It just so happened that they led to the same place…

When everything falls apart, love remains . . .

THE EDGE OF ALWAYS

Camryn Bennett has never been happier. Five months after meeting on a Greyhound bus, she and her soul mate Andrew Parrish are engaged—and a wedding isn’t the only special event in their future. Nervous but excited, Camryn can’t wait to begin the rest of her life with Andrew – a man she knows in her heart will love her always. They have so much to look forward to—until tragedy blindsides them.

Andrew doesn’t understand how this could happen to them. He’s trying to move on, and thought Camryn was doing the same. But when Andrew discovers Camryn is secretly harboring a mountain of pain and attempting to numb it in damaging ways, there is nothing he won’t do to bring her back to life. Determined to prove that their love can survive anything, Andrew decides to take Camryn on a new journey filled with hope and passion. If only he can convince her to come along for the ride…

{4 stars}

Not as an emotional of a ride for me this time around. Andrew and Camryn are starting their life "together" after some really harsh events in their lives. Together and separate they have both been thru a lot. But life is not ready to just let them "be" yet. After another tragedy, Andrew decides that the way to get back their life is to hit the road again, where they were happiest. But what I discovered in the first book about coming home, isn't really true, it's not a place. Home is where your heart is, It's where you feel the most loved, cherished, and safe. And sometimes that just so happens to be in the arms of the one you love. Fighting the "norm", Andrew and Camryn figure out what makes them the most happy. And sitting still isn't it, but trying to recreate their original journey isn't it either. So they set out on a journey yet undiscovered by them. They do eventually come full circle, and land in a much better place then the last time they stopped. But even though they have to take a break from their wandering, they do it for the right reasons this time.

I didn't cry this time, but I felt the emotions just as strongly. Their story really makes you think about what makes you happy, and not settling for anything less. I have found myself wanting to run away and just keep going much like Andrew and Camryn do, if it was only as easy as it is in a book.....

Katy Evans-Mine (Real #2)

Adult Romance 18+

He's mine, and I'm his. Our love is all-consuming, powerful,
imperfect, and real...

In the international bestseller REAL, the unstoppable bad boy of the Underground fighting circuit finally met his match. Hired to keep him in prime condition, Brooke Dumas unleashed a primal desire in Remington "Riptide" Tate as vital as the air he breathes... and now he can't live without her.

Brooke never imagined she would end up with the man who is every woman's dream, but not all dreams end happily ever after, and just when they need each other the most, she is torn away from his side. Now with distance and darkness between them, the only thing left is to fight for the love of the man she calls MINE.

{4.5 stars}
Brooke and Remy are a collision of passion. They literally "collide" with each other every time they are near each other. Remy can't function without her, he needs to see her, smell her, touch her, every moment of the day. Even when asleep he stays wrapped around her. He is the Lion and she is his mate. He is the quiet king and he communicates with Brooke thru touch, sound (songs), and generally one word possessive statements.....MINE. It's very beauty and the beast, and a fairytale played out in the world of underground fighting.

"Black and blue, every inch of you, magnificent you, is mine."

This story picks up where we left off in the last book, as Remy and Brooke melt their lives together. But all fairytales have to have drama and a few evil players to make the beauty all the more beautiful for winning. Scorpion is back, Nora is as selfish as ever, and we get to find out more details as to what really happened to Remy when Brooke left him, it wasn't pretty. But together they succeed and have some wonderful, happy surprises (I'm not telling....*wink*). Not quite as emotionally intense as the first one, I think merely because there is a lot more happiness in this one. But a great follow up to Real. Can't wait to read the next one which is Real from Remy's POV. And since he is a man of few words and a wealth of tactile communication, it should be really eye opening.
