Kristen Ashley--Raid (Unfinished Hero #3)

Contemporary Adult Romance

Hanna Boudreaux has lived in the small town of Willow, Colorado all her life. The great-granddaughter of the town matriarch, she's sweet, cute and quiet.

Too quiet.

Hanna has a moment of epiphany when she realizes her crush for forever, Raiden Ulysses Miller, is not ever going to be hers. She sees her life as narrow and decides to do something about it.

Raiden Miller is the town of Willow's local hero. An ex-marine with the medal to prove his hero status, he comes home, shrouded in mystery. It takes a while but, eventually, Hanna catches his eye.

But after all these years of Raid and Hanna living in the same town, the question is, why? Is Raid interested in Hanna because she's sweet and cute? Or does Raid have something else going on?

{4 stars}
Raid and Hannah really brought this series together for me. The first two books could have really been stand alones, but now I see the series developing. And out of the three, Raid and Hannah are my favorite (Knight and Ally second). Raid is the far more damaged soul in this one and its up to Hannah to save him from his demons. His past haunts him in ways very few people can identify with unless you have been to war. Hannah has loved Raid since she was 6 years old, and when he returns to Willow and doesn't notice her, she finally decides to move on with her life. It could have been the changes in her looks that caught his eye, or the fact that he was already watching her because of her close proximity to a case he is working. But either way, it is something he can't walk away from.

I am so used to 500+ page books from KA, that this one seemed kind of short, but really wasn't. The "impact, life and death moment" was a little confusing, and didn't really seem as important as maybe it should have been. It was more like a tie-in for the next book? Don't know, either way it didn't take away from how much I like Raid and Hannah. I was on the fence about this series, but now I am all in! Love it!
