I tried to keep others at arm’s length. Tried not to let my darkness taint them. Ruin them. Harm them. And whether I want to admit it or not, as much as I wish I could keep them locked out, they refuse to leave. Refuse to let me suffer alone.
If I hadn't been so focused on keeping those demons from flying free, I wouldn't have missed how one perfect angel was able to sneak her way under my skin—refusing to let go. Making me want things I don’t deserve.
She consumes me. Her beauty knows no end. The love she promises tempts me every time she’s near. But that pure heart that makes her MY Emmy is the one thing I’m convinced I’ll destroy if I ever let her close.
I’m a broken man. A broken man with too much darkness in his soul to ever let her light shine upon me. But even that doesn’t stop me from craving her with every single breath in my body.

Oh, Maddox, you beautiful broken man. We have waited a long time for his story. He has always been kind of an enigma in the group. We would get glimpses of "him", but we never really truly heard the story until now. And it was not what I was expecting, his entire life has created the demons that live in his mind. And we now get the chance to find out everything.
Emmy is a total surprise, you think she is the quiet sweet little blessing that is just head over heels for Maddox. But she is so much more, her past demons are just as ugly as Maddox's and when pushed to her final snapping point the real Emmy comes out and she is a sassy little spitfire.
Together they fight, they fight their demons, and they fight for each other. Not a harlequin romance but a true "corps security" romance (if you've read the series, you know what I mean). I'm hoping this isn't the end of this series, that we will continue on with the next generation of Corps Security kids. I just love all of these characters, Corps Security fans will not be disappointed.

Harper lives in small town Georgia just a short drive from
her hometown of Peachtree City. She (and her 3 daughters) enjoy ruling the
