Julie Raust-Lessons in Forever

Adult Contemporary short story

Widowed at a young age, Rachel Halson has spent the last 20 years as the ultimate mother, volunteer and picture-perfect good girl—and she’s had enough. Now she wants to experience all things sexual. The only problem is that Rachel’s not sure she has it in her; fortunately, that changes the instant she meets Detective Mitch Lang.

Mitch is gruff, demanding and definitely not the type to break in a mild-mannered homemaker from Wyoming. However, after one taste of her, Mitch finds he wants nothing more than to teach the lovely Miss Halson all the naughty things he can do to her in his bed.

Luckily, Mitch and Rachel both want the same thing—sex. No strings, no emotions, just hot, wild sex . . . and lots of it.
But when casual begins to feel like commitment and a dirty cop threatens their relationship, Mitch and Rachel must decide if what they have is actually worth fighting for.

Warning: This book contains a mature sexy, alpha male hero who knows how to make a curvy woman scream in bed, on a table, against a wall, on the floor and anywhere else he pleases. Its spicy sex scenes may be too hot for some to handle, and there’s no lack of four-letter words. Luckily one of them is 'love'.

{4 stars}

**Complimentary copy provided by author for honest review

I really enjoyed it. The synopsis says it all really, this story is exactly how it is described. Going into it I was initially just looking to kill time before bed, but wound up really falling for the story and Mitch and Rachel. There is nothing missing from this story but maybe some more pages. Hot alpha male, strong (learning to find her independence) woman with curves. Perfect match for each other, in a perfect story.

C. M. Stunich-Needing Me, Wanting You (Triple M #3)

Adult Romance-biker-18+

Beck Evans keeps the Triple M Motorcycle Club running. He's a badass Southern biker boy with a mean right hook and a crooked smile. As an ex-military man with a checkered past, Beck's seen it all. The only thing in his opinion that's worth living for is the club, even if they're on hard times. Beck would give his life to see his brothers live happily ever fucking after. But as far as his life goes, a new lady every night and a bike that runs are all Beck needs.

And then there's Emilie Hathorne, a girl known simply as 'Tease' in her MC, Seventy-seven Brothers.

Raised by her brother, the current president of the MC, Tease knows she's nothing more than an old lady running on borrowed time. Tease hasn't ever really had a life of her own, and she's okay with that. Or so she thinks. Sometimes though, we don't really know what we need until we come face to face with it.

Biker girl meets biker boy. Love. Trouble. Blood.
The best things always come in threes. But there's a price, always a price.

Beck and Tease just have to decide if they're willing to pay it.

{5 stars}

Remember when you were a kid and you rode your bike down hill, full speed, and let go of the handlebars? That's what it's like to read CM Stunich. A wild ride that you have to just let go of control and enjoy every moment of it. She doesn't follow any "cookie cutter" versions for any of her series. This MC series is totally out there on the edge. They don't have a home base, they live nomadic lives, and at the moment seem to be just one step ahead of another blood bath as they try to figure out who has betrayed them, and move just far enough ahead to have a little peace.

And just when you least expect it, need it, or want it, love punches you in the face and says "Heads Up!" Tease is a dreamer, always living on the periphery, always wanting more, just not knowing where to look. Beck just roams from one bed to another, never taking anything to seriously until her. Their chemistry if explosive, and even though it doesn't seem logical that they have this whirlwind, passion filled, collision, it all works. We get a few answers in this one, and for once we don't have a cliff hanger! Can't wait to get more of Beck and Tease along with the rest of Triple M. Love this series, a must read for biker junkies.

J. R. Ward-The King (Black Dagger Brotherhood #12)

Paranormal Romance

Long live the King…

After turning his back on the throne for centuries, Wrath, son of Wrath, finally assumed his father’s mantle--with the help of his beloved mate. But the crown sets heavily on his head. As the war with the Lessening Society rages on, and the threat from the Band of Bastards truly hits home, he is forced to make choices that put everything--and everyone--at risk.

Beth Randall thought she knew what she was getting into when she mated the last pure blooded vampire on the planet: An easy ride was not it. But when she decides she wants a child, she’s unprepared for Wrath’s response--or the distance it creates between them.

The question is, will true love win out... or tortured legacy take over?

***spoiler alert***

Wrath/Beth - 5 stars
Wrath/Anha - 4 stars
Trez/Selena - 3 stars
Xcor/Layla - 3 stars
Assail/Sola - 2 stars

All in all, (all 573 pages), it was a great book. Ward has done an amazing job bringing the series back to life and into a new era. A lot of authors would keep running the same old storyline, book after book, until we have lost all interest. But Ward keeps it spinning in new directions that keep each one fresh and exciting.

We cover a lot of couples in this one, even getting some updates about all our favorite Brothers along the way. Flashing back to Wrath's parents help you understand where it is our current Wrath needs to go to survive in this new world. He needs to get "in touch" with the people he serves and make changes that will benefit all.

I have rated all the couples in this book as to how they played out in the story. Assail and Sola, I really just "speed read" thru them, not sure how they matter in the series as a whole. They don't seem to have any direct ties for right now, so I was not totally interested in them. My love for this book rests in Wrath and Beth. Yes, we all read the first book about them. But this one is different, it takes us to a new era of the Black Dagger Brotherhood. From their beginnings with Wrath's parents, to how they all need to figure out how the future needs to be to survive. They can't keep living with the old ways and traditions, as the world moves forward, so must The Brotherhood.

Beth's need for a child throws all kinds of complications around, but in the end, isn't every child a precious gift? Trez and iAm are an interesting addition to the household. I find iAm more interesting than Trez, he is a quiet, unassuming character that I enjoy reading about. Trez has wasted to much time running from his predestined duty. And when the one thing that could bring him joy happens, he is too poisoned by his past to embrace it. Xcor and Layla are a good side story, not sure where that is going to go in the long run, but they are a couple I would be interested to follow thru the series.

Looking forward to what the future holds for the Brotherhood......

Belle Aurora-Willing Captive

Adult Contemporary Romance

Delilah “Lily” Flynn is used to her drab existence. Lily’s been living it for twenty two years.
Her boring life is suddenly turned on its head when she’s rudely kidnapped from her bedroom. Or so she thinks.

Nox Taylor is far too high up in his field to be assigned a babysitting job.
There’s nothing more he wants than to complete his mission so he can be rid of the smartass tomboy, Lily.

Day after day, Nox watches Lily and her strange ways. She’s unlike any woman he’s ever met. Getting close to the girl is purely for her own protection…right?

Lily never imagined she’d make her first real friends in captivity.
What lengths would she go through to keep them?

{4 stars}

I wish I had read this one before reading Raw, because Nox and Lily make a "cameo" appearance in that story. So I already knew how they turned out. But, even knowing that, I really enjoyed their story. At times, Lily seems too weak, too weepy, far too emotional. But you have to remember that she has been very sheltered, she has not been allowed to experience anything normal teenagers or young adults have. Watching her discover her own personality and her own feelings was like watching someone walk for the first time. You want to warn them, catch them, cheer them on. Nox is a conundrum, he is this Alpha bad boy, living a life that really isn't a life at all. He doesn't "exist" as far as the real world is concerned. He does the jobs that need to be done invisibly. And something about Lily pulls at him and he can't look away.  Their story was fun, hot, tragic, and sweet. I don't know how Belle Aurora does it, but somehow her writing style pulls me in emotionally and I have now cried several times in two days from reading this book and Raw. Not many authors can do that, write in a way that has you locked into every detail. Walking along with each character and feeling their emotions like you were there with them. Sappy I know. Belle Aurora is moving up to be one of my favorite new authors to watch.

Every woman wants me--except the one I sing for.
Seattle shakes with anticipation: they call it the concert of the year. They say girls are getting pregnant just thinking about Crack Bikini being in town.
But when you love a girl, you don't leave her with nothing but a ring and a promise.

Any man with half a brain should know..

So what did I expect my girl would do when she saw me again?

Well, for starters, she loathes our music. Particularly the song I wrote about her.

When I sing it, the stadium is in an uproar. Thousands of fans scream my name like

I'm a god--but yeah, not her. Crystal clear: the girl's not happy to see me.

Black hair, black boots, a bad attitude, that's her -- Pandora Stone is a freaking man-eater and she's out for my blood.

That's alright.

Let her come at me. Because I'm out for her heart and, this time, there's no way she can stop me.

Belle Aurora-Raw

Adult Contemporary

Growing up the way I did, you’d think I’d be more screwed up than what I actually am.

Soon as I turned sixteen, I left that bump in the road I called home and took my chances on the street.

Best decision I ever made.

Now, at the age of twenty six, I’m educated, employed and damn good at my job.

My friends have become my family. Like me, they know what it’s like to grow up unloved.

But the saying is true.

The world makes way for those who know where they are going.

That’s me.

I know where I’m going and I’ll get there eventually. On my own terms and at my own pace.

But then there’s him.

I feel his eyes on me. I see him hiding in plain sight. He watches me.

He makes me feel.

It’s unconventional.

But it’s real.

I’m sure you’re wondering how a person falls in love with their stalker.

So am I.

This isn’t a story.

This is my life.

{5 stars}

Raw

That's exactly how I feel right now, emotionally raw. This is not a romance. There is love. But there is also every other emotion you can feel too.

"Everything about him is raw. And gritty. And unbound.

He's a raging fire. And I'm a fragile moth fluttering into the flame. Sooner or later, I'm going to get burned. I know this."

He is every bad boy you ever wanted to date, to tame, to love, to have love you. But some things in life aren't meant to be. This is the story of two people who tried really hard.....

WOW, I hadn't initially wanted to read this book, but I am so glad I picked it up. It is emotional, puzzling, beautiful, tragic, and so much more. I don't want to give to much away, because I think this is a story best left experienced with a clean impression. I only knew it wasn't a romance when I started reading it, but it kind of is, just not the one you dream about. And I really hope there is a sequel to this story.

CM Stunich-Born Wrong (Hard Rock Roots #5)

Adult Romance-rockstar-18+

Dax McCann is as cold as ice.
I'm intrigued by him.
But I can't get close to him either.
His music strokes my soul, butchers my broken heart.
I wish he'd see me, but he only sees her.  It's been so long since I've had to care that I'm not sure I can do it anymore.  Now, tell me, why is there a gun to my head?

Sydney Charell is ... interesting.
I want to touch her, kiss her, posses her.
But I don't understand her.
She dances on poles and can't carry a tune to save her life.
I feel like an outsider on the in, but I have too many secrets to hide.  Naomi Knox has my heart, but I think I might need it back.  I want a chance to use it before it breaks.  Or splatters.  Blood will be spilled; I just hope it isn't mine.

{5 stars}

WOW! Ms. Stunich, just when I think you can't possibly flip me on my head again, you smack me in the back of the head with another cliff hanger!

I didn't think I would like Dax as much as I did, but he really turned out to be someone I really like. It was kind of nice to get away from all the Naomi and Turner drama for a little while and get to know some other band members. Sydney is quirky, beautiful, and completely fun. They are a great match. And as usual, the storyline gets even more complicated and thrilling with each book. Can't wait for the next bitch slap!

Kara Swynn-Bound by Her Scent

Adult Romance-Shifter-18+

The ban on human/shifter sex has been lifted, but that doesn't mean the Twin Canyon shifters are ready to mate with humans - especially wolf shifter Ryker Black. He is too rough and raw for the average woman.

Ally Benson is not your average woman. Ally is Ryker's mate; even if he refuses to claim her. When Ally is chosen to teach the pack alphas about female pleasure, Ryker's control is put to the ultimate test. Ally wants the brutish shifter in her bed and she's not afraid to play dirty to get him there. But can Ally really handle the needs of an alpha wolf? And how long can Ryker continue to fight against the instinct to claim his mate, especially when he's...Bound by Her Scent.

Warning: This is a complete short novella. It contains a curvy BBW heroine who craves the rough and raw pleasure that only her sexy alpha male hero can provide. It makes for a very spicy read that may be too hot and too graphic for some to handle.

{4 stars}

I was given this book by the author for an honest review.

At just under 50 pages, there is not a lot of story to judge. But what you get is a great teaser, it's like you took a look thru the window of the full story and got the hottest part. Wouldn't mind reading this if it became a full series.

Lili St. Germain-Five MIles (Gypsy Brothers #3)

Adult Romance-biker-18+

My father taught me the importance of an eye for an eye—a cardinal rule, ingrained in every club member.

A life for a life.

Seven lives in payment for an unimaginable list of sins.

People might wonder why I’m doing this. If this vengeance is borne from some noble cause. If I’m trying to prevent others from suffering at the hands of Dornan Ross and his sons.

But I’m no selfless vigilante.

I’m doing this for me. I’m doing it because I want to.

I’m doing this because I just want to be able to sleep at night without seeing their faces.

This is the fate they have earned. The penance for their crimes.
Time to send some of these brothers off with a bang.

{5 stars}

This is not your ordinary biker romance. There is very little romance involved. What is involved? Revenge.
But I am no less hooked into this series. I love it! They are short reads, but pack a lot of story in just under 150 pages. Julz has come too far to back out now, but things are getting pretty messed up for her. Dornan is showing his true sadistic tendencies. And Jase is on to her, so he thinks, he can't quite figure out what she is up to. As with the first 2, Julz has another brother lined up for execution, but the best laid plans an all........

Nicole James-Crash (Outlaw #2)

Adult Romance-biker-18+

When outlaw biker Tyler “Crash” Shaw volunteers his services to his club brother, Cole Austin, VP of the Evil Dead MC, he suddenly finds himself a rich girl’s bodyguard and babysitter. Well, it’s a bitch of a job, but maybe he can have a little fun with it. He thinks he’ll get a kick out of teaching the pampered stuck-up girl a lesson or two on how the other half lives. She can cook and clean for him in exchange for his help. No free ride for her. He intends to teach her that money can’t buy her way through life.

The world saw a classy pulled-together wealthy lady. All he saw was a spoiled little rich girl. A troublemaker, that’s all she was to him. Until she revealed the shattered girl inside that tried so hard to hide her weaknesses and fears with a façade of arrogance, attitude, and sass.

He’d tear down those walls she tried so hard to build, if only she’d let him.

Could the love of a man so wrong for her be the only one to save her?

And in his darkest hour, would her love be enough to save him?

From the MC’s California charter in San Jose, to the casinos and brothels of Reno, to brother charters in the Deep South, this story will take you on a ride of highs and lows that lead ultimately to redemption.

{4 stars}

I'm going to start off with the things I like about this book, CRASH! I still have a crush on him. He is the perfect bad boy biker with a beautiful soul. Shannon is a rich princess, but I still liked her. She wasn't a snob or judgmental about the MC, she kept her eyes open and took in the whole experience with some humor. Their story is a true fairy tale. Lots of tragedy and drama, but an all consuming attraction to each other that was so sweet. Who wouldn't want a bad boy that would worship you, lavish you, and still spank you when you needed (wanted) it? We still get to see all the guys from the MC, and that cast of characters are a laugh riot!

Things I didn't like.......it's about 150 pages too long. (That's the only reason for less stars) I unfortunately found myself skimming parts and skipped a whole chapter at one point. And I don't feel like I lost out on the story at all. The author became a little long winded in the minor description details and it lagged. That being said, that's my only complaint. I really love this series! I am so glad I gave the first book (Outlaw) a chance when the reviews didn't draw me in.
